The UK cereal production was improved on last years harvest, and oilseed rape crop was another record despite the drought concerns of the Spring. The Department for Environment food and Rural Affairs (DEFRA) gave provisional figures for the 2011 cereal crop at 21.8 million tons 3.9 percent up from 2010 and wheat production was up by 3 percent at 15.36 million tons. it was a good year for oilseed crops and disease control improved a DEFRA spokesman said. "Prices have also proved attractive for growers with an increased demand for biodiesel.
