Thailand cancels large rice deal with Indonesia

An agreement to supply rice to Indonesia was cancelled by the present government of Thailand, the cancelled contract was made under the previous government. Thailand new policy is to pay over the odds to the farmers for their rice, however many think this policy is doomed to failure. An economist Samarendu Mohanty with the International Rice Research Institute has said in a radio interview that it is possible that more contracts will be cancelled in the future It all depends on how Thai wants to run this program.
