Plant Based Feeds Improving Fish Digestibility

Salmon and rainbow trout digest protein in plant based feeds better with the inclusion of acid salts in combination with high temperatures during extrusion. Thea Morken from the Aquaculture Protein Center (APC), in Norway carried out this research as part of her doctoral thesis. She examined whether the combination of high temperature and acid salts increases the nutritional value of plant ingredients, rather than applying heat and acid salts separately.
