Australia grain industry has a positive outlook

Minister for Agriculture, Fisheries and Forestry, Senator Joe Ludwig, has welcomed the release of the Australian Grains 11.2: Grains outlook 2011-12 and industry productivity report, where the total summer crop area in 2011-12 is forecast to be 1.5 million hectares and 41 million tons. He said that the report presents a positive outlook for the grains industry. "Growing conditions over winter and spring were broadly favourable in Australia's major winter cropping regions and crops were generally reported to be in good condition," The report, produced by the Australian Bureau of Agricultural and Resource Economics and Sciences, provides a summary of the outlook for crop production in Australia and analysis of productivity growth in the Australian grains industry.
